2006 Rock the House!

What an event it was this year. Almost 300 kids registered and another 300 to 400 people seemed to have accompanied the kids onto the 2 and 5 k course in this years run.
In the adult division we had a record 156 runners in the 10k and Half Marathon and the wewather was absolutley fantastic.

The Childrun on it's own day in 2007

Childrun will be on it's own day in Kelowna this year. It should be great.

The first 150 racers in the 10k and Half Marathon will receive a Six Pack Waterbottle running pack and waterbottle in their race packs. A value of $25.00. Please remember that our goal for this event is to grow it into a great run that rasies a lot of money for the BC Children's Hospital Foundation. 21.1km and 10km Course Description

The 10k run and the half marathon will follow the same course for 9 of the 10km.
- start in the parking lot of Acorn Plaza and you turn left as you leave the parking lot.
- following Carrington Rd. to Elk Rd. and turn right following Elk Rd. to Ridge Estates Rd.
- Run down to Boucherie Rd and cross it.
- run to the left on Boucherie Rd following it to Prichard Rd and take a right.
- Stay on Pritchard until you hit the turn around at the end and follow the same route back to Old Boucherie Rd.
- At Old Boucherie turn left and run on paths and roads along Boucherie Rd.
- At the 9k mark, 10k runners will be directed to cross the Road and run up Gellatly Rd for a 900 meter uphill grind to the finish.
- half marathoners will continue to follow the shore along the most scenic part of the course to the second turnaround.
- run past the Pier and the Marina, see horses grazing as well as the Gellatly Nut farm on Witworth Dr. and end up at our very own Pebble beach.
- this section is an out and back and will lead you back along the lake on Boucherie and then onto Old Boucherie again.
- look up and you'll see Mission Hill Winery perched on the ancient volcanic crater which is Mount Boucherie.
- at the end of Old Boucherie turn left (avoiding the Pritchard turn around this time) back to where you started the race.
- This is a very scenic run with a total lift of 210 ft. in elevation.

The half marathon can be summed up as a 1km up, 2 km down, 15km flat then 2 km up, and a 1km cruise to the finish.
The 10 km course has the same start and tougher uphill finish.

The BC Chidren's Hospital Foundation

Since 1982, BC Children's Hospital Foundation has raised funds to help pay for essential needs of the only pediatric hospital in British Columbia, the BC Children's Hospital. These essential needs fall under equipment, research, patient programs and education, things not necessarily funded by the government. Through a wide range of fundraising events and opportunities, donors of the Foundation are united by a single and simple passion to improve the health and the lives of the young people who enter BC Children's Hospital each day.
